Our Zi Wei Dou Shu calculations are based on the methods documented in The Complete Book of Chinese Horoscopes (Sunburst Books, 1995) by Kwok Man-Ho and Martin Palmer. Kwok Man-Ho is a Taoist master with over twenty years of study in Chinese esoteric arts and author of more than forty books on Chinese divination, astrology, and feng shui. His co-author Martin Palmer is a respected sinologist whose translations appear in Penguin Classics. The Tzu Wei system represents one of China's most detailed and authentic divination traditions, with roots in the Song Dynasty over a thousand years ago.
Our Si Hua (Four Transformations) calculations use the month stem, which differs from many modern apps. Read more: Schools of Thought in Zi Wei Dou Shu
Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology) is one of the most respected forms of Chinese astrology, developed over a thousand years ago during the Song Dynasty. Unlike Western astrology which uses the Sun's position, Zi Wei Dou Shu maps 14 major stars and numerous minor stars across 12 life palaces based on your exact birth date and time in the Chinese lunar calendar. Each palace represents a different aspect of life — career, wealth, relationships, health, and more — providing a rich, nuanced picture of your destiny and character.
